It’s time for Week 13 picks against the spread! As usual, fade accordingly.
The San Francisco 49ers are traveling to face the Chicago Bears in Week 13, having spent the week in Orlando following Week 12 at the Miami Dolphins. The 49ers are 1-10, and while they are showing some signs of life in various phases of the game, they have not been able to snap what is now a franchise-record 10-game losing streak
As bad as they have been, the Bears have been pretty awful in their own right. The Bears have lost Jay Cutler (injury), Alshon Jeffery (suspension), Danny Trevathan (injury), and Jerrell Freeman (suspension, among others, and Las Vegas and the betting public are noticing. The 49ers opened the week as a 2.5-point underdog to the Bears. The line slowly moved down, and as of Saturday morning, the 49ers were one- to two-point favorites. This marks the first time this season the 49ers have been favored.
I decided to take the 49ers in the SuperContest. I got them at +1, which means a tie or 49ers win and I will be in the money (not factoring in the rest of my ugly season of losses). The line has swung as the public has backed the 49ers all week long. That is often an indicator that the public might be due to get hammered come Sunday. I still think the Bears are bad enough that the 49ers won’t screw this up, but the 49ers can be plenty bad in their own right. I’d prefer a loss for draft purposes, but if the 49ers are going to actually win this game, I’d love to see both sides of the ball come out in a big way.
