Chip Kelly coached following his father’s death

Fooch’s update: Trent Baalke released this statement following Sunday’s game

“The thoughts and prayers of the entire San Francisco 49ers organization are with Chip and his family as they face the difficult process of grieving the loss of a loved one. Understandably, coach will take some time to be with his family before returning to the team this week. Chip has our continued support as he mourns the passing of his father.”

We can argue about football till the cows come home, but sometimes there are more important things in life. And unfortunately, San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly had to deal with that this week.

Matt Maiocco is reporting that Kelly’s father passed away on Friday. Kelly told Maiocco he flew to New Hampshire Friday evening to be with his family. He also told Maiocco that his mom told him she wanted him to coach Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Condolences to Coach Kelly, his mom, and the rest of their family on a tough time.
