Jets bench Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Colts, who knows who starts vs. 49ers

Who knows who will be quarterback for 49ers-Jets in Week 14.

Fooch’s update: Looks like it will be Petty.

The San Francisco 49ers host the New York Jets this coming Sunday, and there are quarterback questions for both teams. Chip Kelly elected to bench Colin Kaepernick in the fourth quarter of the 49ers Week 13 loss to the Bears, and now the Jets have followed suit. New York is getting pummeled by the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football, and replaced Ryan Fitzpatrick with Bryce Petty to start the third quarter.

Fitzpatrick was 5-of-12 for 81 yards and an interception, and the Jets trailed 31-3. Petty came on for the Jets’ first drive of the third quarter. Petty had a couple decent throws on his first drive, completing 2-of-6 passes for 23 yards. The Jets eventually punted.

Chip Kelly said after the 49ers loss that he had not made a decision about the quarterback position for Week 14. He said the decision to switch to Gabbert was in hopes of finding some kind of a spark. He said there are no permanent decisions, so we’ll have to wait for word from Kelly later this week.

The line for 49ers-Jets will arrive at most sportsbooks following the close of Monday Night Football. The Westgate in Las Vegas has a look-ahead line with the 49ers as one point favorites. It will be interesting to see what this latest QB change means for the line. On the other hand, it will not be interesting watching this game.
