Golden Nuggets: Mock Draft Has QB Kizer As Pick

After his terrible performance, Colin Kaepernick will remain the 49ers starting QB against the New York Jets. Colin was pulled in the 4th quarter against Chicago after only throwing for 4 yards total in the game and Blaine Gabbert came in relief. It’s not a foregone conclusion that Colin is gone at the end of the season, but it seems likely. People fully expect Colin to leave in the offseason and for the 49ers to draft a QB in the draft.

CBS has a mock draft where they have the 49ers selecting QB DeShone Kizer from Notre Dame at the #2 pick in the upcoming draft if the front office and coaching situation stays the same. The reasoning behind the pick being that Kizer has the skill set Chip Kelly wants and a high upside. While I think the team will select a QB at some point in this draft, I think they will select the best available player at this spot due to all the holes they have on the team. It could be possible that a QB is available that they really like, but I could also see them selecting a defensive player again to help a terrible defensive unit.

The 49ers have 4 more games until the end of the season and will need the Browns to win a game to jump them in the draft rankings. Either way, the 49ers seem guaranteed a top 2 pick in the draft. It’s not looking likely the team can win 2 games to mess up their draft position.
