The San Francisco 49ers released their first practice participation report of the week, and Quinton Dial is back on it with another injury. Dial has been dealing with knee and neck issues, but on the Wednesday report, he did not participate due to an elbow injury. Dial went down in the team’s Week 13 loss to the Chicago Bears, and my guess is this is related to that injury.
Dial sat out the team’s Week 12 game, and Chris Jones moved into the starting lineup in his place. Although Dial was back last week, Jones remained one of the team’s 3-4 defensive end starters. He finished with the third most snaps among defensive lineman, and whatever Dial’s status the rest of this week, Jones will likely see some significant snaps again in Week 14.
Running back Shaun Draughn remained in a non-contact jersey due to a rib injury. He was a limited participant however, which bodes well for Sunday. Draughn has emerged as a third-down back for the 49ers, ahead of DuJuan Harris and Mike Davis.
