The Cleveland Browns announced on Thursday that Robert Griffin III will be the team’s starting quarterback this weekend against the Cincinnati Bengals. Earlier this week there were reports RG3 was in line to start, but Hue Jackson would not offer any confirmation.
RG3 started Week 1 for the Browns, but suffered a shoulder injury that put him on injured reserve. He was 12 of 26 for 190 yards and an interception, while rushing for 37 yards on five carries. It was not a good performance, but he was likely going to remain the starter for the short-term.
Now he’s back, and he faces a Bengals team that is dealing with numerous injuries. They will be without wide receiver A.J. Green and Gio Bernard, and are currently 5.5 points road favorites against Cleveland. The Bengals probably win this because, well, Browns, but an upset is not entirely out of the realm of the possible. Bovada currently offers odds on whether or not the Browns will win a game this season. Them going winless sits at +120 (bet $100 to win $120), while winning at least one game is the favorite at -160 (bet $160 to win $100).
If the Browns are going to win a game, it will be this game.
