The 49ers released Ian Williams with injury settlement on October 27th. If the length of the injury settlement is three weeks and the mandatory league waiting time is three weeks then the earliest he could return to the roster would be six week. That just happens to be today. Imagine that!
Will he be back? I don’t know but I certainly won’t be surprised if he is. It would give the 49ers three weeks to take a good look at him and see if he might still be a part of their future or whether they should move on. He was one of our best players in 2015 and I am personally really pulling for him to be able to return. Show us what you are made of Ian.
Even if Williams is able to return, I am still hoping the 49ers will try to sign Bennie Logan in free agency this offseason. Logan was one of the best nose tackles in the league under Chip before he was fired and the Eagles went back to the 43 defense. Logan would be a good low cost insurance plan.
