Joe Staley listed as ‘doubtful’ on 49ers final injury report

The 49ers likely will be left starting Zane Beadles at left tackle.

The San Francisco 49ers are likely going to be without left tackle Joe Staley for the first time in 93 games. Staley suffered a hamstring injury on Wednesday, and has been listed as doubtful on the 49ers final injury report.

Staley had played in 92 straight games prior to this week, but he is likely going to miss the game. Doubtful is viewed as a 25 percent chance of playing, and doubtful players rarely play. Staley was not on the injury report on Wednesday, but then was listed as a DNP on Thursday and Friday. The trainers will check him out on Saturday and then during pre-game work on Sunday, but I would not anticipate him playing.

Zane Beadles will likely start in his place at left tackle. He is the team’s swing tackle, but has played almost exclusively guard throughout his career. Staley has had some ups and downs in 2016, but he has generally been a rock on the left side. Now, there will be all sorts of questions against the Jets defensive front. The Jets pass defense stinks, ranking dead last in Football Outsiders’ adjusted sack rate. However, whether it be Leonard Williams or Muhammad Wilkerson, they will be licking their chops against Beadles.
