Golden Nuggets: Holes In The Roster

The 49ers head into the free agency and draft time of year with questions all over their roster. There are many positions where the team will need an upgrade to get back to the top of the NFL. The Niners hired Chip Kelly to try to get the team back on track offensively. The defense also needs an upgrade.

Chip Kelly is known as an offensive genius. He will need to figure out who his QB is going to be this season before he can fix this offense. The offensive line will have to be addressed as well. Regardless who the QB is, the protection needs to be much better this year to stand a chance in the NFC West. Look for those 2 needs to be addressed in the draft as well as the free agency period. The 49ers have been linked to a few draft eligible QB with the #7 seed including Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch.

If the Super Bowl was a lesson to all the NFL teams, it should be clear that a pass rush will win games. Behind QBs, pass rushers may be the most important players on the team. The 49ers know this firsthand. They had Aldon Smith, who made a world of difference to their defense. Last season they couldn't generate a pass rush and struggled mightily. Finding a legitimate pass rusher will be a top priority for Trent Baalke and Chip Kelly this offseason to pair with Aaron Lynch.
