Chip Kelly hires Dana Bible as senior advisor to 49ers coaching staff

Chip Kelly and the San Francisco 49ers added another person to the coaching staff, according to one report. ESPN's Adam Caplan is reporting Chip Kelly has hired Dana Bible to fill a senior advisor role. Bible last coached in 2012 with the North Carolina State Wolfpack. He was offensive coordinator from 2007 to 2012, and briefly interim coach in 2012. He has some NFL experience, having served as the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator in 1998, and the Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach from 1990 to 1992.

Bible and Kelly never previously worked on the same staff as far as a I can tell, but they have a history. The two met at a Boston College summer camp, and immediately hit it off discussing football. Jeff McLane of Philly.com put together an extensive article about Chip Kelly's evolution as a play-caller, and he discusses Bible's impact (as well as others) on Kelly. It's a fairly long piece, but it's worth a read.
