The 2016 NFL Combine gets going on Tuesday, but Wednesday and Thursday are particularly big days. General managers and head coaches conduct press conferences over those two days. For a lot of teams, those are the only opportunity to hear from either person between the end of the season and following the first round of the NFL Draft.
The San Francisco 49ers will be half represented. General manager Trent Baalke is schedule to speak on Wednesday morning at 7:45 a.m. PT. Head coach Chip Kelly will not be speaking. He is one of nine coaches (Bal, Cin, Det, KC, NE, NO, Pit, SD) who will not address the media.
Kelly conducted a Combine press conference in 2013, but he has not spoken the last two years. He becomes the first 49ers coach in recent memory to not conduct such a press conference, but given that he has avoided it the last two years, this is not exactly surprising.
