The 2016 NFL schedule will be released sometime in April, but in the meantime, you can already bet on win totals. The folks at CG Technology handle the sportsbooks at a variety of Las Vegas casinos, and they have unveiled their early offseason totals. The San Francisco 49ers are near the bottom with a total set at 5.
The 49ers are near the bottom of Super Bowl odds, so I am not entirely surprised their total is set so low at this point. The only team lower than the 49ers is the Cleveland Browns at 4.5. The Tennessee Titans are just ahead of the 49ers at 5.5. The rest of the NFC West has the Seahawks at 10.5, the Cardinals at 9.5, and the Rams at 7. The Seahawks are tied at the top with the Packers, Panthers, Patriots, and Steelers.
I am not surprised by the low 49ers number, but I would be inclined to take the over. I realize the Chip Kelly era could very well end up a disaster. However, this team won five games with Jim Tomsula as head coach. That probably is not rock bottom, but if the 49ers cannot exceed the Tomsula win total, I'm going to be a very unhappy person.
