And just like that, the Sam Bradford-49ers rumors can take a back seat for the time being. The Philadelphia Eagles announced that Bradford has agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension. He was due to hit free agency next week, and the Eagles did not franchise him prior to today's 1 p.m. PT deadline.
Given Kelly's decision to acquire Bradford from the Rams, it is not surprising people suggested the 49ers would be a place Bradford might land in free agency. There is upside to Bradford, but injuries have long been a problem for him. It will be interesting to see what kind of dollars this deal includes, but I am fine with it not being the 49ers paying out those dollars.
Fooch's update: The deal is reportedly worth $36 million, and has $26 million in guarantees. I am guessing that is not fully guaranteed, but that is still a lot of money.
This also likely removes the Eagles as a potential landing spot for Colin Kaepernick. He was not connected to them this offseason, but we'll be checking names off the list as news arrives. Next up, we wait and see what happens with the Denver Broncos and Brock Osweiler!
