The San Francisco 49ers have been connected to Myles Jack at times in mock drafts, and there is some good news about the UCLA linebacker. Ian Rapoport is reporting a UCLA surgeon has given Jack the all clear following September surgery for a torn meniscus.
Jack is viewed by many as one of the most dynamic athletes in the 2016 NFL Draft. Jalen Ramsey is consistently pointed to as one of the best athletes, but Jack is an intriguing option, even at No. 7. He is an inside linebacker, but during the Combine he said that teams talked to him about a variety of positions, between linebacker and safety roles. There are a lot of possibilities there that make it easy to get excited about what Jack could do.
If the 49ers did decide Myles Jack was the pick, my guess is he would slot right in at inside linebacker. He would compete with Michael Wilhoite and Gerald Hodges for the starting role next to NaVorro Bowman. I would assume Jack would come in and start right away, but I've learned it's not safe to make too many assumptions!
The UCLA Pro Day is scheduled for March 15. It sounds like he is expected to take part in all the activities he missed at the Combine. He seemed antsy to get going at the Combine, but the doctors wanted to wait a little longer. And so now, we'll hopefully get to see what he can do on Tuesday.
