Alex Boone likes that Teddy Bridgewater is not a prima donna

I suppose these comments might not be trying to throw shade at Colin Kaepernick, but it's easy to think that is what is happening.

Well, this should go over well. Newly signed Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman Alex Boone had his introductory press conference on Thursday. During the press conference, he specifically stated that one thing he likes about Teddy Bridgewater, and it is easy to infer some things from it.

He also said that within five minutes of meeting Bridgewater on Thursday, "I already love [him] and will do everything I can to protect him."

It is entirely possible Alex Boone is just talking about Teddy Bridgewater in the abstract, but it is hard not to think he's throwing some shade at Colin Kaepernick. Well, I suppose he could also be talking about Blaine Gabbert, but I'm guessing that is not the case.

Boone has always been a talkative type. He first talked about how much he loved Jim Harbaugh, and then after Harbaugh left, he complained about Harbaugh pushing them too hard considering they had already reached the mountain-top. He's always had plenty to say, even if it either does not make sense, or results in contradicting his previous statements. It's part of his personality, and either part of his charm, or just an annoyance depending on your viewpoint.

For those wondering, Boone ended up signing a four-year contract worth $26.8 million. He got $10 million fully guaranteed, but it appears to be in the form of base salary guarantees, and not a signing bonus. I thought he might get closer to Mike Iupati's $8 per year, but he certainly did well for himself. The 49ers definitely could have matched or exceeded this if they had wanted to, but as we have learned, Trent Baalke does not spend big money on free agent interior linemen.
