Ted Larsen visit went well, 49ers working on contract

The Colin Kaepernick trade rumors are keeping us busy, but the 49ers are keeping plenty busy with their free agent pursuits. The team hosted offensive guard Ted Larsen for a visit on Thursday, and Matt Maiocco is reporting the visit went well. He said the two sides are working on a deal while Larsen considers his other options. Matt Barrows reported Larsen has a visit scheduled with the Seattle Seahawks, and Maiocco confirmed the visit is still expected to happen.

Our friends at Revenge of the Birds described Larsen as similar in nature to Adam Snyder. Not particularly good, but an option who can fill in as a reserve. He rated poorly at PFF, apparently grading at at 37.8 on a scale of 100 (Jordan Devey graded at 37.5). That's certainly inspiring.

If this is just for a reserve interior lineman, I suppose it's not the end of the world. If the 49ers think he can legitimately start at one of the guard positions, well, that would not be idea. Maybe the Seahawks can save the 49ers from themselves.
