Broncos acquire Mark Sanchez from Eagles for conditional pick

The Denver Broncos have a quarterback! OK, not the one we are expecting quite yet. Broncos beat writer Mike Klis is reporting the Broncos have traded a conditional draft pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for backup quarterback Mark Sanchez.

The Broncos lost Brock Osweiler to the Houston Texans, and Peyton Manning to retirement, leaving them with Trevor Siemian as their only quarterback. They are currently negotiating with the San Francisco 49ers to potentially acquire Colin Kaepernick. The addition of Sanchez does nothing to preclude Kap from potentially ending up in Denver. Rather, the team needs to add some serious depth to the position.

My guess is the team ends up acquiring Kaepernick, and then drafts a quarterback at some point in the 2016 NFL Draft. There is talk Kap is interested in the Cleveland Browns, but I think that is more the 49ers trying to put the squeeze on John Elway and the Broncos. I think eventually the 49ers and Broncos get a deal done, and Kap heads to the Super Bowl champs....where he gets to compete with Mark Sanchez.
