The NFL announced 2016 NFL Draft compensatory picks, and as expected, the San Francisco 49ers received four such picks. The 49ers were awards a fourth round pick (133 overall), fifth round pick (174 overall), and two sixth round picks (211, 213). The team is unable to trade the picks this year. They will be allowed to deal comp picks next year.
The 49ers hold 12 picks for the upcoming draft. They have five of their own picks, four comp picks, and three picks acquired via various trades. I think we all expect them to do some dealing, but who knows where it will be. With two fourths, three fifths, and four sixths, they have the kind of picks that allow them to do all sorts of maneuvering. I don't expect a move up in the first round, but they could do all sorts of other maneuvering. And this does not factor in a potential Colin Kaepernick trade.
