EL PATO'S UPDATE: Aaron Wilson reports the deal is 3.134 million fully guaranteed
Finally some good news! According to a report from Janie McCauley of the Associated Press, San Francisco 49ers kicker, Phil Dawson has signed a 1 year deal with the team. Nothing is official yet, and McCauley's source spoke on anonymity due to a formal announcement expected tomorrow.
Dawson's status was a question mark due to his cost and reliability. Some expected him to go to a contender with his contract up. The kicker did say he wanted to stick around, but as we all know, free agency is a very weird process.
Details of the deal aren't out yet, but we should expect to hear everything tomorrow when it's formally announced. For now though, with all the chaos going on in free agency, this is great news. Dawson has been a reliable and accurate kicker for most of his time in San Francisco, taking the reigns from a reeling David Akers. His field goal percentage in San Francisco has never dropped below 80 percent, and last year he finished with 24 for 27 with an 89.9 percentage.
So we have our kicker figured out. Now onto everything else.
