This is not ideal news for a draft prospect. Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with DUI. There is no comment from his agent, and this is the first news of the incident. The 49ers met with Prescott back during the NFL Combine.
Prescott was likely a day two or day three prospect prior to this incident. I don't think this will kill his draft chances, but this definitely won't improve them. I would not be at all surprised if teams remove him from their draft board. It's not that they don't know how to deal with a player getting a DUI, but when you know the biggest day of your life is fast approaching, why be that stupid? Why not call a cab or an Uber or something? That's such a bone-headed decision, and I don't get it.
Prescott is likely to have some private visits with teams lined up this month, and it is safe to say he will get a few questions about this incident. I don't really know how he can best answer questions about such a stupid decision.
