Golden Nuggets: Team Reloading Through The Draft

The trade talk for Colin Kaepernick have stalled after last week's activity. While Colin is still a 49er as of this moment, it seems highly unlikely that he will stay with the 49ers for next season. With that in mind, latest mock drafts have the team selecting Cal's Jared Goff. If Jared is available at #7, it could be too tempting for the 49ers to pass on the local QB. The 49ers need a franchise QB and Jared could be that person. The team will be observing Jared Goff at Cal's pro day this Friday.

Carson Wentz could also be in the mix at #7. A lot of the QB options seem to rely on what the Cleveland Browns do. The Browns are one of the likely suitors for Kaepernick, but if they do not trade for him, they will likely draft a QB at #2. Hue Jackson's specialty is his ability to work with and develop quarterbacks. The 49ers #7 pick could hinge on what QB the Browns decide to take if they do not get Kaepernick.

The 49ers have 12 picks in this year's draft. They have the most picks and that will help them reload on talent that is deeply needed. With the lack of activity in free agency, the team is looking towards the draft as a way to fill holes on their roster. Team officials have been going to college pro days including Ohio State's, UCLA's, and Clemson's among them. All eyes will be on Trent Baalke on draft day. He has a few draft classes that haven't produced for the team. The 12 picks he has are needed to fill the holes the 49ers have at almost every position.
