49ers met with Connor Cook at MSU Pro Day, same day Chip Kelly was at SJSU Pro Day

Will the San Francisco 49ers draft Connor Cook? For now they at least are doing their due diligence.

The San Francisco 49ers are doing plenty of quarterback due diligence this offseason, and we can add Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook to the list. Multiple reports from the workout indicate the 49ers and Los Angeles Rams both met with Cook beforehand, and the Cleveland Browns met with him after the workout.

It is worth noting that head coach Chip Kelly was not part of the group that met with Cook. Kelly remained in the Bay Area, where he took in the San Jose State Pro Day, along with Tom Rathman and others.

Running back Tyler Ervin is the biggest name on the San Jose State roster for this year's draft. Cornerback Cleveland Wallace might get a look as well.

It is not surprising the 49ers would meet with Cook. If Colin Kaepernick gets traded or released, quarterback is most definitely on the radar for the draft. If Kaepernick does not get traded or released, it likely is still on the list, although that would raise plenty of other questions.

For now though, the 49ers have met with Cook, Vernon Adams, Jared Goff, Paxton Lynch, and Dak Prescott. I imagine there will be more, and some of them will be brought in for private workouts. I don't think Kelly missing Cook's workout is a big deal at this point, but we'll see if the 49ers bring in Cook for a private workout, or attend any personal Pro Day he conducts.
