Laquon Treadwell to meet with 49ers

The 49ers have a wide receiver need, but does Laquon Treadwell bring enough to the table to risk a first round pick?

The San Francisco 49ers have been connected at times to Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell in mock drafts, and we might be able to toss a little more fuel on the fire. Treadwell recently sat down with NFL Network and said the 49ers are one of several teams with whom he already has a visit lined up.

Treadwell will go through his Ole Miss Pro Day workout on March 28, and he told NFL Network he will then visit with at least eight teams, including the 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings, and Cincinnati Bengals.

This year's wide receiver class is not viewed as highly as past classes, but Treadwell is considered one of the top wide receiver prospects. Corey Coleman, Will Fuller, Josh Doctson, Tyler Boyd and Michael Thomas all look to be drafted in the first two days, but odds seem decent Treadwell is the first wide receiver off the board.

The 49ers have a need at wide receiver, but it is hard to tell how early they would pull the trigger. We don't know what's next for Anquan Boldin, but with a relatively questionable class of receivers, it might make sense to not invest too heavily in the position next month.
