The NFL Draft is fast approaching and mock drafts abound all around the different sports sites. The quarterback position is the consensus first pick for the 49ers with Jared Goff being the most mentioned. There is absolutely no clue from the team though on which direction they will go (and rightfully so). But based on the 49ers relative inactivity on the high-priced free agents, it looks more and more like they are in a long-term rebuild mode.
This most likely means that that Trent Baalke may indeed go with a QB at #1 since they tend to be less of an impact player as a rookie than other positions. But still with so many holes to fill (and depending on how the draft shakes out), Baalke might also continue with his BPA (best player available) strategy. With an abundant number of picks, I'm hoping that Trent will luck out on some good players who can be a part of a solid nucleus going forward.
