The Dallas Cowboys sit in front of the San Francisco 49ers with the No. 4 pick, and that could be what swings the 49ers pick. The Cowboys have Tony Romo in place, but they very well could decide to find their quarterback of the future with the pick. Carson Wentz and Jared Goff are the two big names in the quarterback rankings, but Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch remains on the radar.
The Cowboys appear to be the first known team to conduct a private workout with Lynch. Other teams very well might have, but there are reports today that the Dallas Cowboys brass checked out the Memphis quarterback. And it sounds like things went well.
As has been reported, #Memphis QB Paxton Lynch had a private workout today with most of the #Cowboys braintrust. I'm told it went very well.

One interesting note regarding Lynch and the #Cowboys: today went so well, I'm told the sides are expected to meet again prior to the draft.

How interested the #Cowboys are in Paxton Lynch? Team executives Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones and Will McClay were all at today's workout.

Getlin has a lot of agent contacts, so as with any media, we want to take this with a grain of salt. But the Cowboys remain an intriguing team with the No. 4 pick. Maybe they go quarterback to eventually replace Romo, or maybe they find a high impact player for their defense. Joey Bosa has been linked to them, and there are plenty of other options that will be there at the No. 4 pick.
My guess is the Cowboys don't go quarterback, and instead look for an impact player who can help get the team in playoff position ASAP. And of course, it all depends on how they feel about this quarterback class. If they really like one of the quarterbacks, the prudent move might be grabbing the guy they think could be their long-term solution after Romo. And if they are not overly impressed, then they wait.
