We are a little under two months from the 2016 NFL Draft, and that means the Jon Gruden QB Camp series on ESPN is coming up. This year's series of interviews starts on April 12 at 5:30 p.m. PT, and runs up to the draft. The group will include Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, Connor Cook, Christian Hackenberg, Cardale Jones, Paxton Lynch, and Dak Prescott.
I'm particularly intrigued to see how Cook comes off in his interview with Gruden, but in the meantime, we have a sneak peek at Jared Goff's video. ESPN posted three minutes of Goff and Gruden talking about the beatings he took his first year at Cal. It took time to turn the program around, and that meant some tough times early on. Gruden asks him about handling press conferences after "getting your butt kicked", and then says, "It's one thing to lose, I mean the beatdown mentally it puts on your, it's another thing to get your ass kicked, and physically, I saw you really get knocked down hard."
Goff is projected as a top ten pick, which means he is likely going to a team coming off a bad year. They might turn around quickly, or it might take a couple years. Whatever the case, it's a useful line of questioning. I imagine the rest of the segment will be interesting as well. I'll give people a heads-up when the Goff segment is going to air on ESPN.
