Golden Nuggets: Possible Non-QB Picks

Now that it looks like Colin Kaepernick is staying with the team unless a trade somehow materializes, who do the 49ers look to draft at #7? Mock drafts had them selecting Cal's Jared Goff with the pick, but they can now decide to address other needs on the team and grab a QB in the later rounds.

A name that is interesting for many teams picking early is UCLA's Myles Jack. He could turn out to be the star of the draft if he is fully recovered from his meniscus injury. He could be an upgrade for a defensive unit that needs help and a possible LB partner for NaVorro Bowman, who he is compared to. He is good in coverage as well as rushing the QB. Jack would probably be the top talent in the draft if it weren't for his injury. According to reports, he is well on his way to 100 percent. If Jack makes it to #7, the 49ers may not be able to pass on his abilities.

Another possible pick for the team would be Laquon Treadwell. The Ole Miss WR ran a unimpressive 40 time, but most reports are that he has good ball tracking and catching skills. He is 6'2, which is a good height for a receiver. Reports have him compared to Dez Bryant and Anquan Boldin, which is high praise. His size should also allow him to become a better blocker. The team met with Treadwell on Sunday in Mississippi. With the likelihood of Boldin signing elsewhere and the relative of unknown on the 49ers WR corps, the 49ers may take a chance on Treadwell even without him having great speed.
