Golden Nuggets: Possible Trade Talks Heat Up

Anthony Davis retired prematurely from football last offseason. This offseason, he informed football fans on Twitter that he is coming out of retirement and will play football this upcoming season. The 49ers hold his rights when he comes out of retirement. Reports surfaced that the team was kicking the tires on trading him along with S Antoine Bethea. Anthony then tweeted that GM Trent Baalke reached out and informed him that the reports are false. While it is possible they trade him, the team lacks depth on the offensive line and he is still young that he could be a key member in a rebuild.

It makes more sense that the team could be looking at trading Bethea. The 49ers are in a rebuild and getting playing time for Jaquiski Tartt and Jimmie Ward will be a priority. Bethea is coming off a season-ending injury and could be more useful for a team looking for experience at safety. Baalke would be tempted to add another draft pick for a 31 year old safety.

With the draft a couple of weeks away, the 49ers have scheduled visits with top prospect QBs this week. Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, and Connor Cook are all visiting the 49ers headquarters this week. Many mock drafts have the team selecting Jared Goff at #7, but the 49ers have many needs on the roster that they can look to address. Connor Cook is a dark horse pick for the 49ers in the 2nd round. A notable absentee is Memphis QB Paxton Lynch.
