Jared Goff, Carson Wentz not visiting 49ers this week

Over the weekend, reports emerged that the San Francisco 49ers would be hosting Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, and Connor Cook for visits this week. Subsequent reports indicate Goff and Wentz will not visit. Mike Silver tweeted that Goff would not be visiting this week, instead traveling to meet other teams all week. Jason Cole followed that up with a report that neither Goff or Wentz would meet with the 49ers this week. This does not mean neither will meet with the team, or haven't already met with the team, but for now, it is not happening this week.

The 49ers have been connected regularly with all three quarterbacks. They had a private workout with Cook, and all indications are they will still host him for a visit this week. They attended the Cal and North Dakota State Pro Days, and were also on hand for a second Goff throwing session. There is no word on any additional workouts yet with Wentz.

Cole has repeatedly mentioned that the 49ers like Connor Cook, and it feels like that has become a bit more common refrain in the media. It is possible it is a red herring. Of course, the team was repeatedly connected to Oregon defensive lineman Arik Armstead in mock drafts and the like, and that ended up panning out. It leaves us chasing our tails until we see what happens in two weeks.
