Rams trade for No. 1 pick in 2016 NFL Draft

This could be huge for getting a big defensive name to the 49ers at No. 7.

Wow! The Los Angeles Rams are making a splash in their new digs. The Tennessee Titans announced that they have traded their No. 1 pick to the Rams. In return, the Titans get the Rams first-round pick, both second-round picks and their third-round pick from the 2016 NFL Draft, as well as their first-round pick and third-round pick from the 2017 NFL Draft.

That is a monster deal. And considering what happened when Washington made a huge deal to get the Rams No. 2 overall pick back in 2012, I guess the Rams think the pick is worth a roll of the dice.

The big question now is WHO will the Rams pick with the No. 1 pick. Will it be Jared Goff or Carson Wentz? I suppose they could think Laremy Tunsil could be an Orlando Pace type of franchise offensive tackle, or Jalen Ramsey is a franchise-altering defensive player, but it seems like a quarterback makes more sense. They placed a sizable RFA tender on Case Keenum and have Nick Foles, so if they do draft a quarterback, he likely won't have to start right away.

This is big for the San Francisco 49ers. If the Rams and Browns take quarterbacks at the top two spots, it means one of Joey Bosa, Myles Jack, DeForest Buckner or Jalen Ramsey is guaranteed to slip to No. 7. Of course, if the Rams take the Browns choice at QB, maybe Cleveland trades down. The first round just got that much more interesting!
