The 2016 NFL Draft is eight days away, and seven round mock drafts are starting to make the rounds. Greg and Jake will be compiling 49ers specific 7-round mock drafts, but in the meantime, I thought I would share Dane Brugler's latest 2016 NFL mock draft over at CBS Sports. He put one together last week, but the Titans-Rams trade shook it up almost immediately. And so, he is back with seven rounds of mock drafting fun. Here are the picks he made for the San Francisco 49ers.
1 (7). Myles Jack, ILB, UCLA
2 (37). Michael Thomas, WR, Ohio State
3 (68). Jalen Mills, DB, LSU
4 (105). Connor McGovern, OG, Missouri
4 (133). Matt Judon, DE/OLB, Grand Valley State
5 (142). James Bradberry, CB, Samford
5 (145). Avery Young, OT, Auburn
5 (174). Devon Cajuste, WR, Stanford
6 (178). Vernon Adams, QB, Oregon
6 (207). De'Vante Harris, CB, Texas A&M
6 (211). Nile Lawrence-Stample, DT, Florida State
6 (213). Sebastian Tretola, OG, Arkansas
Brugler goes quarterback with the top two picks of the draft, which means Laremy Tunsil and the four notable defensive prospects slip to the 49ers. The Baltimore Ravens select DeForest Buckner, which leaves Myles Jack to the 49ers. The knee questions will certainly remain on the radar, but depending on that knee, he could be installed next to NaVorro Bowman for the foreseeable future.
Brugler did not do any trades, as that would get especially complicated in a 7-round mock draft. But we also know trades will happen. The 49ers have been mentioned as having interest in the No. 2 pick, and we know Trent Baalke would also certainly consider a move down in the first round. And that's just the first round. The 49ers have ten picks in the 2017 NFL Draft, which equals the Titans for most in that draft. The 49ers could add more, but given their sizable haul, they could also use some of those to move up in certain rounds this year.
How many picks do you think the 49ers end up making in the 2016 NFL Draft? They currently have 12 picks. I'll set the over/under at 10.5. For those who don't know about over/under, you decide whether the 49ers will make more than 10.5 trades or less than 10.5 trades. I included the 0.5 since 10 total or 11 total would be a push.
