This is the least surprising development of the week. Free agent quarterback Brian Hoyer will meet with the Denver Broncos this week, following meetings with the New York Jets. The Houston Texans released Hoyer earlier this week, and that added a slightly notable option to a slim QB market.
Hoyer has never been a particularly good quarterback, but he's shown enough signs to be a serviceable starting option for a team facing otherwise slim pickings. The Jets have Geno Smith and Bryce Petty, while the Broncos have Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian.
A strong defense would buttress those guys, but both are in need of some kind of answer. The Jets have been trying to re-sign Ryan Fitzpatrick, while the Broncos have been trying to acquire Colin Kaepernick from the San Francisco 49ers. Both QB issues revolve around money right now, and neither is showing any sign of getting cleared up. Hoyer adds a minor level of intrigue to this whole situation.
