Golden Nuggets: Draft Week Arrives

NFL Draft week is finally here! Now the actual NFL decision makers will picking the players to add to their roster. Stagnant trade talks could potentially start once again. The 49ers have been rumored a few times this offseason in discussing trade talks about Kaepernick and also for the #1 or #2 picks. None of those talks have been completed. There are 3 names that have been heavily linked to the 49ers at #7. Those players are DeForest Buckner, Myles Jack, or Ronnie Stanley.

DeForest Buckner would be the 2nd consecutive Oregon Duck defensive lineman that the 49ers have drafted. He would join former Duck Arik Armstead in beefing up the defensive line. The defensive line is in need of players that can pressure the 49ers. Experts have Buckner being more ready to contribute immediately compared to Armstead last year. He is a more polished player and a playmaker.

Another defensive player, Myles Jack, is an intriguing player. While his knee is a topic of contention, his ability if healthy is easy to see. He could be an immediate impact player for the defense. Trent Baalke has never shied away from a prospect with injuries, so Myles Jack could be in play for the #7 pick. The 49ers could group him with NaVorro Bowman at inside linebacker and recreate a fearsome duo. It would be hard to pass him up if the knee injury does not worry the 49ers

On offense, the 49ers need a QB. But with trades affecting the first and second pick, the top 2 QBs will more than likely be off the board by the time the 49ers pick. The other QBs do not seem to be worthy of that high of a pick. The 49ers could choose to address the offensive line, which needs a lot of help. Ronnie Stanley is a lineman that is projected to be a very good player in the NFL. He could fit in right tackle as a rookie and could eventually take over for Joe Staley.

These 3 are the likely candidates for the 49ers unless the team trades down in the draft, which is a good possibility due to Trent Baalke's history.
