The on-going Colin Kaepernick trade saga looks like it will drag into May, at the very least. Denver Broncos beat writer Mike Klis is reporting that a deal is unlikely to happen between now and Sunday, the day after the 2016 NFL Draft wraps up. He will not rule it out, but things seem pretty dead for the time being.
Hearing Broncos trade for Colin Kaepernick by Sunday not likely. Not impossible but there have zero talks. #9news #9sports

Earlier today, Matt Maiocco reported that he is hearing Colin Kaepernick "kinda digs Chip Kelly" after a few weeks of the offseason workout program. Everybody seem content to dig in with their current situations and are not overly concerned (at least publicly) about getting something done.
The last update we had was that the Broncos wanted either Kaepernick to take a significant pay cut in 2016, or the 49ers to pick up some of his salary in the form of a converted signing bonus. That appears to have been shot down fairly quickly. The 49ers can afford Kaepernick under the cap, Kaepernick has a guaranteed salary, and the Broncos just won a Super Bowl, leaving all three sides feeling they have leverage.
I figured something would happen during the draft, but this would indicate that will not be the case. Now we can wait and see what the Broncos do at No. 31. Do you see them drafting a quarterback on Thursday? I think they and the 49ers will be looking QB regardless of Colin Kaepernick's situation, but when exactly is up in the air.
