There are always a few surprises on day one of the NFL Draft, and this Thursday should be no different. There have been rumblings upwards of four or five quarterbacks could go in the first round and one coach apparently said Jaylon Smith could end up going early second or late first. But one of the more intriguing ones that could impact the San Francisco 49ers is the latest Leonard Floyd chatter.
Player who is rising & appears headed inside the top 10: #UGA LB Leonard Floyd. Teams caught a small glimpse of his skill set in college

Here's a tip... A team with a top 10 pick scheduled a last minute meeting with Leonard Floyd on TUESDAY. Wanted one more look. @NFLonFOX

Floyd measured in at the Combine at 6'6, 244 pounds, with 33 1/8 inch arms. He is listed as an outside linebacker, but that weight is a bit under-sized for what the 49ers do. That's not to say the 49ers couldn't help him bulk up a bit, but I doubt they take him ahead of a DeForest Buckner or Ronnie Stanley.
However, could a team like the Jacksonville Jaguars jump on him? Or maybe one of the first round trades we should come to expect could be for Floyd. The 49ers need some help in the pass rush, so he is at least a sleeper option, but I think we see the 49ers grab some pass rush help on day two.
