Another quarterback is officially off the board. The New York Jets used their second round pick to select Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg. He is the fourth quarterback off the board, following Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, and Paxton Lynch, who all went in the first round.
The Jets have been trying to figure out their QB situation with Ryan Fitzpatrick unwilling to agree to terms. This decision is intriguing given that Connor Cook is viewed by many as the better prospect. Instead, Cook is sliding down the board. The Jets add Hackenberg to a depth chart that includes Geno Smith and Bryce Petty. I would think they will be hoping to get a deal done with Fitzpatrick at some point.
We ran some QB rankings (excluding Jared Goff and Carson Wentz) among NN readers, and Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook were first and second quarterbacks. They were followed by Dak Prescott, Vernon Adams, Kevin Hogan, Cardale Jones, Christian Hackenberg, and Jacoby Brissett. Here are those results.
