The 49ers picked and everyone cheered. Then they traded back into the first round and everyone's heart beat faster than an automatic hammer. They picked Joshua Garnett, and the fans gasped, scratched heads, and a majority felt even more awesome with those two picks.
Then Trent Baalke picked Will Redmond in the 3rd. And as much as things change, so much stays the same.
If the 49ers weren't desperate for an O-line and inside linebackers, this could make sense as being a throw-away pick, but even then, it's rather questionable on the decision. It does help cornerback depth, but is that really what the 49ers need? It helps to withhold judgment until A: This guy actually comes to training camp for 2016 and B: if this guy plays in a pre-season game. Some people like the pick, and the naysayers can only hope the skepticism is misplaced.
