Golden Nuggets: Colin Shows Up For 1st Voluntary Workout

With $400,000 on the line for showing up for workouts, it was expected that QB Colin Kaepernick would attend the team's voluntary workouts on Monday. And that is what he did. He continues to be in rumored trade talks between the 49ers and Denver Broncos. On Sunday, reports were conflicted. Some stated that the trade was ready to go, only the renegotiation of his contract held the deal up. Others reported that the deal between the teams were not settled.

The major stumbling block for the trade happening appears to be the reluctance of Colin to take a $4+ million pay cut to sign with the Broncos. They want him to lower his salary, but he has no reason to actually do that. With his $11.9 million guaranteed, he could stay with the 49ers this season and worry about the contract next year. He holds all the leverage in the situation.

The 49ers also added players to their roster on Monday. Two players from last season are returning to the team. DL Tony Jerod-Eddie and OL Jordan Devey are back on one year deals to add depth to the defensive and offensive lines.
