49ers work out Norfolk State linebacker Deon King

The San Francisco 49ers have some linebacker needs, and they are searching high and low for options at both outside and inside linebacker. NFL reporter Aaron Wilson is reporting the team conducted a private workout with Norfolk State linebacker Deon King. Wilson is reporting King also went through workouts with the Broncos, Raiders, Colts, and Washington, and has a visit lined up with the Cowboys.

King is listed as an outside linebacker, but he would likely end up as an inside linebacker in the 49ers defense. The Norfolk State website lists him at 6'1, 235 pounds, but according to NFLDraftScout.com, at his Pro Day on March 18, he measured in at 6'0, 218 pounds. It could very well be a typo, but even at 235 he would be viewed as a bit undersized. I'll keep an eye out for more information, and if you see anything, let us know in the comments.

Even with the smaller size, King seems like he could be a force in the middle. King finished his career with 372 tackles, 52.5 for a loss, 22 sacks, five fumble recoveries, four forced fumbles, and three interceptions. He ran a sub 4.7 40 in several Pro Day appearances at Virginia colleges, and Matt Miller said back during the season that he can squat 520 pounds.
