San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman tweeted on Wednesday that he had a special announcement coming at 3 p.m. PT. The reaction from his followers was about what you would expect.

Yep, people quickly assumed it was a retirement. Given what happened last offseason, I'm not exactly surprised by the responses. At the same time, it still kind of cracked me up.
Bowman saw the rush of responses, and replied six and eight minutes later with a pair of tweets to clarify that is not the case. My guess is he is announcing something related to either his personal website, merchandise, charity work, or some kind of sponsor-related thing.

49ers fans are still on edge after last year's flood of departures. Things have been crazy with Colin Kaepernick's situation, but other than that, it's been fairly low key. Hopefully it remains that way, and fans can get back to being used to not dealing with so much turnover!
