49ers to host Kolby Listenbee for pre-draft visit on Saturday

The San Francisco 49ers can always use more speedy options. The team is bringing in Kolby Listenbee for a Saturday visit.

The San Francisco 49ers are busy with wide receivers this week. Late Thursday we learned the team is hosting Georgia's Malcolm Mitchell for a visit on a date to be determined. Now, we know of another receiver coming to town. TCU wide receiver Kolby Listenbee told Jared Tokarz of NFL Draft Insider that he is headed to Santa Clara on Saturday to meet with the 49ers.

Listenbee stands 6'0 and weighs 197 pounds. He saw limited work his freshman and sophomore seasons, compiling a total of three catches for 82 yards. His junior year he had 41 receptions for 753 yards and four touchdowns. His senior season he finished with 30 receptions for 597 yards. He ran a 4.39 40 at the Combine, but did not do a full workout due to a groin pull.

CBSSports.com projects him as an early day three candidate, while ESPN views him as more of a late day three option. CBS does a player comparison, and they compared him to current 49ers receiver Jerome Simpson. Most of the scouting reports point to size as a concern. TCU listed him at 183 pounds, and size/strength concerns popped up. However, it appears he put on some weight between his time at TCU and the Combine. I would hope that is solid muscle weight, but we don't know for certain at this point. But the fact that he put up a 4.39 40 after the weight gain strikes me as a good thing.

He is viewed as a deep threat, but is coming off a limited route tree at TCU. He sounds like a guy who can get a shot early due to his deep speed, but will need some time to develop the rest of his game.
