Golden Nuggets: Draft weekend is a wrap!

New, comments

San Francisco 49ers links for Monday, May 2, 2016.

Good morning! The weekend is a wrap and the draft is officially behind us. The San Francisco 49ers walked away with 11 drafted picks, and now has at least 11 undrafted free agents attending rookie minicamp. The team reportedly agreed to terms with eight on Saturday, but has since added three more such players. Considering they had 82 players on the roster after their 11 draft picks, three of the 11 UDFAs are tryout candidates without a contract.

Speaking of minicamp, that gets going on Thursday. We'll have plenty more details about that, but look for the team to invite a few more players to fill out rookie rosters. They have 22 rookies drafted, signed, or trying out, but they need to fill out some additional roster positions. Although, players who were on the practice squad and otherwise did not accrue a season are eligible to take part in the rookie minicamp.

Just to give everyone a heads-up, the close of the draft means the start of the 90-in-90 series. I believe 49ers veterans report. There are actually either 89 or 90 days until veterans report (I always get the dates confused), so it's as good a time as any! We will be actually mixing it up this year. We'll be writing most of them, but Steph, Tracy, and Jennifer will also shoot some video for a handful of them. It should be fun to change it up.
