Picture of confident group 49ers rookie defensive linemen

New, comments

The San Francisco 49ers invested quite a bit in their defensive line this offseason. They are not spending a ton of money to do so, but they invested draft capital. The team selected DeForest Buckner in the first round and Ronald Blair in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. They also signed nose tackle Darren Lake and defensive end Demetrius Cherry as undrafted free agents.

Cherry tweeted out this picture of the four rookies together after practice. In posting it, he said "This group gon be remembered trust me." Obviously they all have a long way to go, but the confidence is great to hear. The 49ers are looking to rebuild a lot of their depth following retirements and free agency departures. I don't know how many of these defensive linemen will be on the roster four or five years from now, but it's an intriguing group.
