The close of April means we now know the San Francisco 49ers schedule, and we know what the bulk of their 90-man roster will look like heading into training camp. That means, unlike in February, sportsbook win totals hold a little more value for assessing each team.
Back in late February, CG Technology released win totals for their various sportsbooks. The San Francisco 49ers were listed at 5 wins, with the over set at -120, and the under set at -110. That means the over was slightly favored. Over this past weekend, the LV SuperBook released their win totals for the 2016 season, and they are listing the 49ers at 6 wins. They have the over and under both set at -110, which means you have to bet $110 to win $100.
I don't have an updated number from CG Technology, so I don't know if they will be bumping their number up from 5. Bovada will be releasing updated Super Bowl odds on Wednesday, so it will be interesting to see how the 49ers change (or don't change).
Even with the addition of Chip Kelly, it is too early to really tell what any of this means for this fall. I do think his addition was worth a bump just because he's not Jim Tomsula. But beyond that, it's tough to tell. The team will have some players getting healthy, but they have a lot of questions on the roster. They may get some answers, but it remains to be seen if they'll like the answers they get.
For those wondering about the NFC West:
Arizona Cardinals: 10
Los Angeles Rams: 7.5
San Francisco 49ers: 6
Seattle Seahawks: 10.5
