Good morning! We’ve got a lot of Warriors fans reading NN, but also some Cavaliers fans. Congrats to the Cleveland folks. And Warriors fans? Well, if you’re a 49ers fan, you know this feeling from Super Bowl 47. And if you’re not a 49ers fan, well, this is a little bit what Super Bowl 47 felt like.
I’d say the Warriors have a little more reason to hold up their chin to a certain extent. They set the single-season win record, and losing to a team led by LeBron James and Kyrie Irvin is nothing to feel too awful about. It sucks to lose a title series, but I’ll take losing to this Cavs team over Joe Flacco and company. I’m guessing that’s not exactly soothing to Dubs fans right now.
It was otherwise a quiet weekend. We only have one link. Grant Cohn put together a list of five questions the 49ers face when training camp begins. The first question is about Anthony Davis, with the second and third about the defense. The fourth and fifth are both offense-related, and to some extent one will impact the other. His fourth question is if Chip Kelly can manufacture a quality offense, while the fifth is if Kelly’s system will bring out the best in Colin Kaepernick. They are distinctly separate questions, but if the fifth question is answered in the affirmative, it will likely mean an affirmative answer to the fourth question. If the 49ers get something decent out of the quarterback position, that fourth question is likely to be answered in the affirmative.
