This upcoming season for the San Francisco 49ers will answer a few questions about the team. The last 2 seasons have been a rough stretch for the team and they are still looking to get out of it. The old guard is mostly gone and the team has gradually become younger. The 2nd consecutive new coaching staff will work to move the franchise back in the right direction.
Chip Kelly arrives in San Francisco with many questions about his coaching ability. His innovative offense had limited success in Philadelphia and he wore out his welcome. This stint as the 49ers head coach will likely make or break his NFL career. Chip will try to fix the abysmal offense and to score as many points as possible. If he is able to upgrade the offensive production with this group, his label as a offensive genius from Oregon could be validated.
The other story about this season will be the play of all the unproven players on the team. Outside of a few players, most of the roster is very young. There are 37 draftees since 2013 looking to make the team. Joe Staley and NaVorro Bowman are the leaders of the offense and defense. They will have to mentor these young players into a productive team to have any chance of collecting wins this season.
