Golden Nuggets: 1st Day Of Minicamp

New, comments

Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from the Internet

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

The 49ers began their 3 day minicamp today. The team's 1st round pick, Joshua Garnett, was allowed to practice for the 1st time this offseason. Rules prevented him from participating because Stanford still had classes in sessions. HC Chip Kelly mentioned that the coaching staff doesn't know which side of the offensive line he would play, but they wanted to put him in to see what he is able to do.

Colin Kaepernick had perfect attendance at OTAs, but for the 1st time this offseason, he put on his helmet. He participated in individual drills, but he will still be kept out of team drills and 7 on 7s. He will be allowed to throw to the receivers, tight ends, and running backs. This is welcome news after going through 3 surgeries.

Going along with the welcome news about Colin, is the news about RB Carlos Hyde. Chip said Carlos is healthy and full go after suffering a season ending foot injury. RB coach Tom Rathman said he looks like he was never injured, which is very encouraging. The offense will need Carlos healthy for the team to makes waves this season.
