Golden Nuggets: How good is Jimmie Ward?

Sunday, July 10th, 2016 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet.

Don’t you love it when other sports are more than enough to make you not think about the NFL, at least for a few hours? Today we’ve got the Wimbledon finals and the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, there’s more Olympic trials fun, yesterday was a fun fight card for UFC 200 and well ... I kind of forgot about the San Francisco 49ers for a little bit there.

The offseason is certainly dragging along, when I’m thinking about it. The links are barren, as is usually the case in July. Player rankings, contract rankings (questionable ones) and things of that nature populate the list. Jimmie Ward was ranked No. 4 in Biderman’s ongoing series with the USA Today and I’m struggling to see it, but it seems to be an optimistic take.

Ward the nickel corner is a pretty good player and I think he’ll get even better. But the fourth-best player on the team? What do ya’ll think? Whatever the case, we’re going to get to the links now, many of which might be repeats.
