Saints making push for free agent WR Anquan Boldin

Anquan Boldin has met with Washington and Detroit thus far. Could he end up in the Big Easy with Drew Brees?

We can add a team to the very short list of those expressing interest in free agent wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Ian Rapoport tweeted the New Orleans Saints are making a push for Boldin. Their wide receivers coach is John Morton, and Rapoport tweeted that Boldin is a big fan of his.

The Saints released veteran Marques Colston earlier this year, and while they have some strong young talent in the receiver corps, a veteran like Boldin would probably be a welcome addition for Drew Brees. I’m not sure how Boldin and his legs would like playing on fake grass half the season, but he’d get plenty of opportunities in that offense.

The San Francisco 49ers host the Saints in Week 9, so if Boldin ends up in the Big Easy, we’d likely get a chance to see him face the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium. I would hope he gets a very hearty applause in the game. Other teams that have expressed interest include the Lions and Washington. There was a rumor the Patriots were interested, but nothing came of that.
