Good morning! Two weeks from tomorrow, the San Francisco 49ers veterans will report for training camp. Quarterbacks, rookies, and injured players will report before then, although I am not exactly sure what date that is. I believe it will be sometime earlier in the week. By this time in two weeks, we will likely know what some or all of the NFI and PUP list will look like.
In the meantime, this week bring a couple notable events. Thursday was the 2016 NFL Supplemental Draft. Nobody was selected, but at least two players were signed to free agent contracts after the draft concluded. The Houston Texans signed Purdue defensive tackle Ra’Zahn Howard, while the Cincinnati Bengals signed University of Calgary wide receiver Rashaun Simonise.
Friday brings the deadline for teams to agree to contract extensions with players they have franchise tagged. None of the players have agreed to extensions yet, but word out of Denver is that Von Miller might be getting close to reaching a deal with $70 million in fully guaranteed money. That would be a record for a non-quarterback.
And in sort of 49ers-related news, former 49ers linebacker Dan Skuta will not face charges following an arrest last month for misdemeanor battery. On to some links!
